Bobrisky Never Spoke to Me, I Have Never Met Him, I Do Not Know Him from Adam” – Femi Falana

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has firmly denied any association with popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, following the release of an audio clip by social activist Very Dark Man (VDM). The clip allegedly features Bobrisky claiming that Falana could assist him in securing a presidential pardon during his time in Kirikiri prison.

In the purported audio, Bobrisky suggests that singer Falz reached out to him, indicating that his father, Femi Falana, could help obtain the pardon for 10 million naira, aimed at clearing Bobrisky’s criminal record.

In response, both Falana and his son, Falz, through their legal representatives, demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from VDM, to be issued across all his platforms within 24 hours. VDM, however, contended that he did not defame the Falanas but merely sought to prompt investigations into Bobrisky’s claims.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on October 3, Falana stated, “Bobrisky never spoke to me. I have never met him. I do not know him from Adam.” He recounted a previous interaction involving his son, Folarin (Falz), who Bobrisky allegedly contacted on May 4, seeking financial assistance for a special prison section.

Falana recounted that Falz refused Bobrisky’s request, asking him to reach out through official channels instead. “That was the last,” Falana stated, expressing frustration over the subsequent release of the tape, which he believes has defamed him.

The lawyer announced that his family would pursue civil proceedings to restore their integrity. “In this case, we are not going to file a criminal complaint. What we are going to do is to embark on civil proceedings with a view to restoring our integrity, my name, and that of my son,” Falana emphasized. He also highlighted the importance of holding individuals accountable for defamatory statements on social media, stating, “We want to make an example in this case.”

The Falana family awaits a retraction and apology; otherwise, they will initiate legal action.
