Bandits’ Rampage Claims Three Lives in Kebbi’s Kanzanna Village
In a tragic incident that unfolded over the weekend, the peaceful village of Kanzanna, nestled in the heart of Tilli District within Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, witnessed the ruthless violence inflicted by bandits. Regrettably, this wave of violence resulted in the loss of three innocent lives.
The heart-wrenching news was shared by Alhaji Umar Mohammed Gwade, the Chairman of Bunza Local Government, during a visit by Governor Nasiru Idris to the grief-stricken community. Alhaji Gwade noted with concern that this was not an isolated incident, as several other communities in the local government area have endured a string of attacks by these merciless bandits in the recent past. He called upon the government to take swift action by deploying additional security forces to curb the frequent onslaughts that threaten the safety and well-being of the local residents.
Governor Nasiru Idris, visibly affected by the unfortunate events, expressed his deep condolences to the affected community and urged security agencies to intensify their efforts in the ongoing battle against insecurity within the state. He called upon the citizens to play their part in supporting these efforts, emphasizing the importance of providing credible intelligence to combat the threat posed by the bandits.
During the visit, Alhaji Mohammed Jabbo, the District Head of Tilli, shared a vital perspective on the situation. He pointed out that the vulnerability of Bunza Local Government was exacerbated by its proximity to neighboring countries, Niger and Benin Republics, potentially enabling the bandits to exploit the porous borders for their malicious activities.
In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, Governor Idris generously donated N3 million to the families of the three victims who tragically lost their lives, with an additional N3 million extended to the broader community. The two district heads were also not forgotten, receiving financial support of 1 million Naira each.
The tragic incident in Kanzanna Village serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for enhanced security measures to safeguard the lives and property of the residents in Kebbi State, as well as the imperative for cross-border cooperation to mitigate the menace of these marauding bandits.
