Bandits Raid Kawu Community in FCT, Abduct 23 Residents

In a distressing incident on Thursday, bandits targeted the peaceful Kawu community in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, abducting 23 residents.

The Councilor representing the area, Abdulmumini Zakari, revealed that the armed assailants, believed to have originated from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State, executed a coordinated attack, dividing into groups to carry out the abductions.

The district head’s palace was not spared, as the bandits infiltrated Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali’s residence. Among the victims were the district head’s son, Lukman, and his recently wedded wife.

Another targeted location was the compound of Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward. The bandits seized the former chairman and his four children. Subsequently, they moved to the residence of Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, abducting him along with his two wives and children.

FCT Police Command spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh, officially confirmed the distressing incident. This occurrence adds to the escalating trend of banditry in the FCT, with numerous residents falling victim to similar abductions in recent weeks.

Satellite towns in the FCT appear to be particularly vulnerable to the criminal activities, leaving residents on edge and authorities grappling with the security challenges in the Federal Capital Territory.
