Bandits Abduct Five APC Chieftains in Zamfara
Five chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly been abducted by bandits in Zamfara State. The victims, all from Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, were seized on Saturday while traveling to the Marafa area.
According to reports, the abducted politicians were on their way to the residence of Abdulaziz Yari, the senator representing Zamfara West, when their convoy was ambushed by armed assailants. Among those kidnapped are Yahaya Sani Dogon Kade, chairman of Dan Isah ward, and Bello Dealer, chairman of Sakajiki ward.
Efforts to confirm the attack from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as spokesperson Yazid Abubakar was not immediately available for comment.
Zamfara has been a hotspot for banditry and kidnapping, with criminal groups frequently launching attacks across the state. The region remains one of the operational bases of Turji Bello, a notorious bandit declared wanted by the Nigerian Army.
This latest abduction follows a series of violent incidents in the state. On February 24, gunmen carried out multiple attacks in Gusau and Bukuyyum Local Government Areas, killing two residents and abducting several others in Kairu community. Six women were also kidnapped in Shemori village, while another group of gunmen abducted a woman and her one-year-old child in Mada town, Gusau LGA.
