Atiku Asks: ‘Who Is in Charge?’ Amid Leadership Vacuum in Nigeria
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised eyebrows over the simultaneous absence of President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima, from Nigeria, amid the nation’s pressing challenges.
Expressing his concern, Atiku noted the unusual situation in a statement posted on his social media handle. He remarked on the absence of both the President and Vice President at such a critical time, questioning who is currently leading the country.
“At a time when Nigeria faces daunting challenges, it is unprecedented for both the President and Vice President to be absent from the country simultaneously,” Atiku stated. He suggested the possibility that Nigeria might be operating on autopilot in their absence.
The absence of key leaders has created a leadership vacuum, with Shettima attending the US-Africa Business Summit in the United States and Tinubu yet to return to Nigeria following his participation in the Special World Economic Forum meeting.
Concerns continue to mount as citizens await clarity on who is steering the ship of governance during this period of absence.
