Assassination Attempt: No One Can Stop Me From Visiting Any Part of Nigeria — Peter Obi

Peter Obi says he will continue to travel across Nigeria despite warnings from some quarters advising him to avoid certain areas.

The former governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election stated that every Nigerian has the constitutional right to move freely across the country.

Obi made the remarks during a visit to Peter University, Achina while responding to a recent incident in Benin City and comments circulating on social media cautioning him against visiting some parts of the country.

“I am a Nigerian and I am free to go to any part of this country. It is a constitutional right that nobody can take away from me,” he said.

Obi said he recently travelled to Rivers State despite receiving warnings not to go, explaining that the trip followed an invitation he had already accepted shortly after the Benin incident.

The former governor also confirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to him, his political ambition is driven by a desire to see reforms that improve opportunities for Nigerians and strengthen public institutions.

“I’m not desperate to be the President of Nigeria, but I’m determined to see Nigeria work,” he said.

Obi also addressed his decision to leave the Labour Party, citing internal leadership disputes and concerns over the handling of court rulings related to the party’s leadership crisis.

He said those developments influenced his move to the ADC ahead of the next electoral cycle.
