Armed Robbers Raid Western Delta University, Students Seek Refuge in Nearby Bush
According to report from Sahara Reporters, armed robbers on early Thursday morning infiltrated Western Delta University in Oghara, Delta State, causing widespread panic among students. The assailants gained entry through an unfenced rear section of the campus.
The attack forced numerous students to flee for safety, with many seeking refuge in a nearby bush. One student, speaking to Sahara Reporters anonymously from their hiding place, described the harrowing ordeal, stating, “The university has been overrun by armed robbers, and we’re trapped. I’m speaking to you from the bush, where I and others fled for safety.”
Contrary to initial reports, Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, clarified that while the incident did occur, it did not constitute a siege. He explained, “Some miscreants entered the school through the unfenced rear section on Wednesday night, attempting to rob students. The students raised an alarm, prompting our immediate response. However, the perpetrators fled before our arrival.”
The spokesperson reassured the public that the situation is under control, emphasizing that security forces are actively patrolling the area to prevent further incidents.
