Armed Men in Military Camouflage Besiege Oyo State Govt Secretariat
Armed men dressed in military camouflage launched an attack on the Oyo State Government Secretariat. Eyewitnesses reported the assailants’ attempt to breach the Governor’s Office and the state House of Assembly complex, raising concerns about the security of government institutions.
The motive behind the attack remains shrouded in mystery, as the secretariat was reportedly deserted due to a break. Witnesses described the intruders as masked individuals, their faces concealed beneath scarves and masks, indicating a deliberate attempt to conceal their identities.
Security forces, including policemen stationed at the Governor’s Office, members of the South-West Security Network (Amotekun), and additional reinforcements, swiftly responded to the intrusion. Reports suggest a fierce confrontation ensued, marked by gunfire exchange between security personnel and the suspected perpetrators.
The arrival of the intruders in buses adorned with flags associated with certain agitators raised further alarm, prompting speculation about potential motives behind the assault. Heightened security measures, including the deployment of soldiers and the establishment of barricades around the secretariat, underscore the gravity of the situation.
As the area remains under tight security control, with traffic diverted from the scene, questions linger about the identity and intentions of the attackers. The absence of official statements from the Oyo State Government or police authorities adds to the air of uncertainty surrounding the incident.
