APC to Umo Eno: ‘Plane PDP is Inoperable and Unsafe, Ours is Ready to Fly You Out’
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has offered to provide a new political platform for Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom, following his recent criticism of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement released on Wednesday, Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of the APC, responded to remarks made by Eno, who had compared the PDP to a malfunctioning aircraft.
Speaking in Akwa Ibom, Governor Eno had expressed concerns that the PDP’s political machinery was no longer functioning properly, suggesting that the party’s “plane can no longer fly safely” and that it might be time to explore other options. Morka, in turn, welcomed Eno’s comments and agreed with his assessment, stating that the APC recognizes the PDP as “demonstrably inoperable and unsafe for travel.”
The APC spokesperson went on to reassure Eno that the party’s platform, in contrast, was ready and capable of offering him a secure political journey. “As safety and comfort are prerequisite conditions for flying, our great party assures the governor that Plane APC is fit and ready to fly His Excellency and entourage to their desired destination,” the statement read.
Morka further emphasized that the APC had highly competent and welcoming “pilots and crew” on standby, promising that any political move to the APC would be a “mighty good ride to remember.”
The offer comes amid increasing defections from the PDP. Earlier this week, the PDP’s national working committee held an emergency meeting in response to a wave of departures, including that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. After the meeting, Umar Damagun, acting national chairman of the PDP, announced that the party’s national legal adviser had been instructed to address the defections of Oborevwori and other members to the APC.
