APC to Peter Obi: “You Left No Legacy in Anambra, Stop Misleading Nigerians”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, of failing to deliver significant achievements during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State, while criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the APC alleged that Obi’s leadership record in Anambra did not reflect the expertise he claims to possess. The party said Obi projects himself as “omniscient and a philosopher’s stone,” but left no remarkable legacy during his eight years in office.

The APC dismissed Obi’s New Year message as “jangling and gloom-ridden,” accusing him of spreading pessimism to incite public discontent. “Like his counterparts in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi’s endless attempts to stir outrage against the administration stem from a realization that President Tinubu is solidifying their political irrelevance,” the statement read.

Defending Tinubu’s reforms, the APC highlighted initiatives aimed at reducing food prices and boosting local drug production. The party noted Tinubu’s acknowledgment of economic challenges in his New Year address, where he emphasized the administration’s commitment to alleviating the burden on Nigerian households.

The APC also criticized Obi’s comments on Tinubu’s international engagements, pointing out that the President’s policies are driving measurable improvements across sectors. Spokesman Felix Morka stated that Obi’s criticism is “misleading and appears intended to score cheap political points.”

The statement reiterated that Tinubu’s administration remains focused on ensuring the full benefits of its reforms for sustainable national growth and transformation.
