Anambra 2025: Moghalu, Nwosu Explore United Front for Labour Party Ticket

The race for the Labour Party’s ticket in the upcoming 2025 Anambra State governorship election may take a new turn as George Moghalu and John Nwosu, two aspirants from Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area, consider harmonizing their interests ahead of the primaries.

George Moghalu, the immediate past Managing Director of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), revealed this possibility during a press conference at his residence on Wednesday. Highlighting the strong personal and familial relationship he shares with Nwosu, Moghalu emphasized the importance of unity in advancing their shared political goals for Nnewi and the Labour Party.

“He (Nwosu) is my brother, friend, and in-law. Nothing is set in stone, and we share a good relationship,” Moghalu stated. “We need to avoid wasting resources and time while protecting Nnewi’s interests. It’s not impossible for us to meet and discuss ways to work together for the greater good.”

Moghalu underscored that collaboration is in line with the Labour Party’s constitution and the principles of effective politics, which demand flexibility and strategic partnerships. He hinted at ongoing efforts to align their visions, saying, “We were together in Onitsha yesterday, and before the primaries, we will certainly hold conversations to ensure everything works out well. Our focus is on ensuring Labour Party forms the next government in the state.”

Despite the discussions of unity, Moghalu reaffirmed his commitment to the race, expressing confidence in his ability to replace Governor Chukwuma Soludo and steer the state toward progress. “I have thrown my hat in the ring, and I believe I have what it takes to do better and set Anambra on the right path,” he concluded.
