APC Suspends El-Rufai Ally as Woman Leader over Criticism of Kaduna Governor

The Badarawa/Malali Ward executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna North LGA of Kaduna State has suspended Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, also known as ‘Mai Rusau’, from her position as the State’s APC Woman Leader. The suspension comes in the wake of Suleiman’s vocal criticism of Governor Uba Sani, which sparked controversy within the party.

Suleiman, a staunch supporter of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, had taken to social media to condemn Governor Uba Sani for disclosing the hefty debt inherited from the previous administration. Governor Sani revealed that his administration had inherited a substantial debt burden, including contractual liabilities, which was significantly impacting the state’s finances and hindering salary payments.

The situation escalated when Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Governor El-Rufai, publicly rebuked Governor Uba Sani, accusing his administration of incompetence and deflecting blame onto the debt situation.

In response to Suleiman’s outspoken criticism, the APC Badarawa/Malali Ward executive committee issued a letter of suspension, citing her unauthorized dissemination of party disputes and defamation of Governor Uba Sani’s character as grounds for the disciplinary action. The committee emphasized that Suleiman’s actions violated the party’s constitution and warranted suspension pending further investigation.

Confirming the suspension, Kaduna State APC Secretary, Yahaya Pate, affirmed that Suleiman had been suspended from her position as the state’s woman leader by the Badarawa/Malali ward.
