President Muhammadu Buhari has advised all the ad hoc delegates to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention to go on and exercise their franchise without manipulation or inducement from any of the aspirants.
He made this known in a statement released by Femi Adesina the presidential spokesman.
Buhari in his statement said there will be no imposition of presidential candidate on the party as against the stance of the APC national Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu who recently declared Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus candidate also against the insistence of some governors who said the presidential ticket must go to the south.
Buhari further said the outcome of the presidential primary election should show that the APC is a democratic party.
He said “As I said when I met with the Progressives Governors Forum last week, the outcome of this primary election should prove to the world the positive quality of the APC regarding democratic principles, culture as well as leadership.”
He reiterated that the APC stands for positive change, stating that this must be reflected in all areas of lives and conduct of members.
He said the delegates should vote wisely, and pick a standard-bearer that would fly the flag of the party to victory in 2023.
