Anambra State Officials Embark on Educational Tour to Lagos for Ferry System Insights
In a remarkable display of inter-state cooperation and a testament to the power of peer review mechanisms, Anambra State Government’s Transportation Team recently embarked on a journey to Lagos State to gain valuable insights into the successful implementation of Lagos’ Multi-Modal Transport System, which includes various modes of transportation such as buses, rail, and water ferries operated by LAGFERRY.
The delegation from Anambra, led by Commissioner for Transport, Barr. (Mrs.) Patricia Ifeoma Igwebuike, along with representatives from the Local Government and Community Affairs, arrived in Lagos with an eagerness to understand the intricacies of Lagos State’s pioneering transportation infrastructure.
Their visit commenced at the prestigious Five Cowries Terminal located in Falomo-Ikoyi, where they were warmly welcomed by the management team and operations crew of LAGFERRY. The Lagos team, known for its successful ferry operations, wasted no time in providing the Anambra officials with practical demonstrations of the operational procedures.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for the Anambra team to experience a memorable sailing excursion, immersing themselves in the coastal beauty of Lagos State. This firsthand experience allowed them to appreciate the efficiency and convenience of water transportation, a vital component of Lagos’ integrated transport system.
As a token of appreciation and to ensure the safety of future water travels, the Anambra delegation was presented with brand-new, standard life jackets on behalf of their state. This gesture symbolized the exchange of knowledge and goodwill between the two states.
The visit underscores the importance of states working together to share best practices and improve their respective governance and service delivery. Anambra State’s decision to send its officials to Lagos for this educational tour reflects a commitment to enhancing the transport infrastructure within their own state, ultimately benefiting the citizens of Anambra.
This collaborative effort serves as a model for other states in Nigeria, highlighting the potential for cross-state learning and cooperation in various sectors to promote development and progress across the nation.
