Anambra Radio Station’s Studio Equipment Engulfed in Flames

On Thursday night, a raging fire swept through Kpakpando FM, a private radio station located in Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

The incident, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., resulted in the partial burning of the station’s building and crucial studio equipment. Thankfully, no lives were lost in the fire.

Martin Agbili, the state fire chief, confirmed the outbreak and reported that firefighters swiftly responded to the distress call. Their prompt action prevented the inferno from spreading further, showcasing their dedication and bravery in tackling the emergency.

“At about 2139hrs (9:39 p.m.) of Thursday 07-03-2024, Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call of a fire outbreak at KPAKPANDO FM, MBAUKWU,” Chief Agbili stated. “Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and gallant Firefighters to the scene of the fire. We fought, controlled and extinguished the fire.”

Despite the valiant efforts, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The radio station’s office building suffered damage, with some studio equipment being lost. However, due to the firefighters’ efforts, certain equipment and parts of the building were successfully salvaged.

The fire service officially withdrew from the scene at about 2318hrs (11:18 p.m.), marking the end of a challenging battle against the flames. Investigations are now underway to determine the cause of the devastating fire that has left Kpakpando FM grappling with the aftermath of this unfortunate incident.
