Ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, a leading contender under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially launched his primary election campaign council. The inauguration took place over the weekend in Abuja, marking the formal beginning of Chukwuma’s quest to lead Anambra State.
The 15-member campaign council is composed of influential political and community figures with a deep understanding of Anambra’s political landscape. Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, a former member of the House of Representatives who served the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency during the 9th National Assembly, has been appointed as the Director-General of the campaign. Supporting him is Chief Uzu Okagbue, who previously served as Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to former Governor Willie Obiano. Okagbue will act as the Deputy Director-General for the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.
The council also includes several other notable figures: Chief Raphael Okeke (Deputy Director-General, Anambra North Zone), Chief Jude Osude (Deputy Director-General, Anambra South Senatorial Zone), Barr. C.J Chinwuba (Campaign Council Secretary), Hon. Hillary Udeanu (Director of Security), Amb. Elijah Onyeagba (Director of Finance), Chief Tony Onyima, Ph.D. (Director of Research and Documentation), and Chief Uche Nworah, Ph.D. (Director of Media/Communications).

During the inauguration, Chukwuma urged council members to commit themselves fully to the task of securing his candidacy in the upcoming APC primaries. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the challenges facing Anambra State, particularly in areas of insecurity and governance. Chukwuma’s campaign is anchored on his ‘HIS’ vision, focusing on human capital development, infrastructure, and security.
Speaking on behalf of the council, Director-General Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi expressed confidence in Chukwuma’s leadership, describing his candidacy as divinely timed for the redemption of Anambra State. He assured that with collective effort and divine favor, Chukwuma would secure the APC nomination and ultimately, the governorship.
The event also featured a seminar designed to equip council members for the campaign ahead. Notable academics, including Prof. Tochukwu Okeke from the University of Abuja and Prof. Chukwuemeka Jaja Nwanegbo from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, delivered lectures on effective political strategy and leadership, providing insights and strategies to ensure the campaign’s success.
The seminar concluded with a robust discussion on the current political climate in Anambra State and the necessary steps Chukwuma must take to secure his party’s nomination and bring about a new era of leadership in the state.
