Amamgbo Welcomes Senate’s Resolution, Pushes for Immediate Anambra South By-Election
Frontline Anambra South Senatorial District aspirant under the Labour Party, Barr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, has commended the Senate, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, for declaring the Anambra South Senatorial seat vacant and urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a by-election without further delay.
Amamgbo described this resolution as a significant step toward ensuring that the good people of Anambra South are not left without representation in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
He emphasized that legislative representation is a fundamental pillar of democracy, and the prolonged vacancy of the Anambra South seat has deprived the district of a strong voice in national discourse and policymaking.
While acknowledging the due process observed by the Senate before making the declaration, Amamgbo called on INEC to act decisively and fast-track the electoral process. He noted that any further delay in conducting the by-election would amount to disenfranchisement and a setback for democracy in the district.
Reiterating his unwavering commitment to offering credible, people-focused, and development-driven representation, Amamgbo assured the people of Anambra South that his desire to champion their interests remains steadfast.
He urged the electorate to remain engaged, emphasizing that this by-election presents an opportunity to elect a leader who will genuinely prioritize their welfare, attract development, and uphold their collective aspirations at the national level.
He further stressed the importance of a transparent, credible, and hitch-free electoral process, urging all stakeholders, including INEC, security agencies, and the political class, to ensure a free and fair contest that truly reflects the will of the people.
“As we await INEC’s next steps, I encourage Ndi Anambra South to remain resolute and united in our collective pursuit of quality representation. The time to restore our voice in the Senate is now,” Amamgbo declared.
