Alleged Sodomy and Molestation of Youths: Soludo’s Kinsman Arrested in Anambra
Ike Okoye, a retired teacher, has been arrested on allegations of molesting and engaging in same-sex activities with young boys in Isuofia, Aguata local government area of Anambra State. Isuofia, notably the hometown of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, now finds itself at the center of a disturbing controversy.
The arrest was conducted jointly by the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare and the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade, prompted by a report from Chief Jude Chikadibia-Okeke, President-General of the Isuofia Peoples Assembly (IPA). According to Chief Chikadibia-Okeke, Okoye was caught in the act of sexual relations with several young men in the area.
“The suspect has allegedly been involved in molesting and engaging young men in homosexual activities for quite some time, often evading consequences through influential connections in the state,” Chief Chikadibia-Okeke revealed. “We apprehended him over the weekend while he was reportedly engaged with multiple boys and young men, prompting an immediate response from the Women Affairs Commissioner.”
Initially denying the accusations and attributing them to false claims, Okoye later admitted to some level of involvement but denied penetration.
Two victims, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed their experiences. One victim, aged 25, stated, “He usually approached us under the pretext of financial assistance or offering payment for doing his household chores. He first molested me when I was 17, and it continued until I confided in my mother.”
Another victim, aged 31, claimed that Okoye seemed satisfied with mere physical contact but eventually ceased after the victim expressed discomfort. Both victims alleged that Okoye persisted in harassing and even threatening them after they distanced themselves.
Reacting to the incident, Women Affairs Commissioner Ify Obinabo and OCHA Brigade Managing Director Comrade Celestine Anere expressed their dismay and reiterated the government’s commitment to combating child molestation and homosexuality in the state.
The suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
