Again, Boat Capsizes in Niger: 24 Lives Lost, Several Missing
In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded in the serene Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, at least 24 individuals are reported to have tragically lost their lives, with an unconfirmed number of others still missing, following a devastating boat mishap that took place on Sunday afternoon.
Jibrim Muregi, the esteemed council chairman, was quick to verify the grim accident when contacted. However, at this time, the precise count of passengers onboard the ill-fated vessel remains uncertain.
Muregi further revealed that the lifeless bodies of 24 passengers, representing diverse communities, including Gbajibo, Ekwa, and Yankeiade, have been recovered from the scene of the incident. Additionally, a dedicated rescue team has been dispatched to the site to perform the arduous task of searching for survivors and retrieving the bodies of those lost in this heartbreaking tragedy.
