Police Recover Firearms from Motorbike Accident Victims in Suleja
The Niger State Police Command has retrieved three AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 104 rounds of ammunition from a sack belonging to two motorcycle riders involved in an accident in Suleja.
The crash occurred on Tuesday as the riders, traveling from Tafa in Kaduna State toward Abuja, collided with a road construction barrier. Police responding to the scene recovered a sack from the victims, which contained the firearms and ammunition.
One of the riders died at the scene, while the second, who was injured, was killed by a mob before emergency personnel could take him to the hospital. The victims’ bodies were taken to the Suleja General Hospital morgue.
Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police, confirmed the recovery and stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, condemned the mob attack. “The suspect could have assisted law enforcement in tracing the origin of the weapons and their intended use,” Abiodun said.
CP Elleman has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident, directing the Suleja Area Commander to identify and apprehend those responsible. The recovered rifles are currently undergoing ballistic analysis to support the inquiry.
