AFCON 2023: Quarter-Final Matchups Revealed (Full List)
The quarter-final fixtures for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been officially unveiled, following the conclusion of the intense Round of 16 stage on Tuesday night.
Mali secured their quarter-final berth with a nail-biting 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso. Edmond Tapsoba’s early own goal and Lassie Sinayoko’s composed finish propelled Mali to a 2-0 lead, but Bertrand Traore’s penalty brought Burkina Faso back into the game.
South Africa pulled off a stunning upset, defeating tournament favorites Morocco with a commanding 2-0 scoreline. Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena were the heroes for the Bafana Bafana, securing a historic win.
The quarter-final matchups are now set as Mali prepares to face Ivory Coast, and South Africa gears up for a clash against Cape Verde. In other compelling last-eight fixtures, Nigeria will lock horns with Angola, while Guinea is set to face DR Congo.
