ADC Unveils 2026 Primary Timetable, Sets Presidential Form at N100m

 

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its schedule for the 2026 primary elections, fixing May 25 for its presidential primary and setting the nomination form at N100 million.

 

In a statement issued on Sunday by party spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC outlined a detailed timeline for selecting candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party said the process is designed to ensure compliance with electoral regulations and maintain internal order.

 

According to the timetable, collection of application forms began on April 1 and will end on May 4. Sales of nomination forms are scheduled for May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 11 and May 13.

 

Screening of aspirants is set for May 14 and May 15, with results to be published on May 17. Appeals will be handled from May 18 to May 19, and the final list of cleared candidates will be released on May 20.

 

Primaries for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats will be conducted at ward level on May 21. Governorship primaries are slated for May 22, followed by the presidential primary on May 25.

 

The party’s National Executive Committee is expected to meet on May 26, while a Special National Convention will be held on May 27 to ratify candidates.

 

The ADC also confirmed the cost of nomination forms for various positions: N100 million for the presidency, N50 million for governorship, N20 million for Senate seats, N10 million for the House of Representatives, and N3 million for State Houses of Assembly.

 

Discounts have been introduced, including a 50 percent reduction for young aspirants and 25 percent for women and persons with disabilities.

 

The party urged aspirants and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the guidelines, stating that the process is intended to support credible candidate selection ahead of the next general elections.
