JUST IN: Anyamene Reportedly Adopts NDC Ahead of 2027 Reps Race
A new political shift is emerging in Idemili North and South, as credible sources indicate that Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene (Ezenwa Obosi) has chosen the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as his new political platform.
The development follows his recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and could shape the early contours of the 2027 House of Representatives contest in the federal constituency.
Multiple sources within his political network, including close associates and grassroots coordinators, told SK Blog that the decision came after extended consultations across the constituency. Engagements were reportedly held with traditional leaders, youth groups, market representatives, clergy, and other stakeholders across the 17 towns and 24 wards of Idemili North and South.
According to one insider, “This was not a sudden move. It followed months of discussions and internal review. The choice of platform reflects both strategic thinking and alignment with his long-term plans.”
Although Anyamene has not made a public declaration, there are indications that political structures linked to him are already adjusting to the reported shift. Sources point to ongoing quiet mobilization at ward and polling unit levels, with supporters being briefed ahead of a formal announcement.
“There is already coordination on the ground,” another source said. “What is left is the official unveiling, which is expected to happen at the right time.”
Observers say the move could influence the political balance in Idemili, where party loyalty has traditionally played a strong role. Anyamene’s visibility has grown in recent years through his foundation’s activities, including education support, medical outreach, and community-focused programs.
Analysts note that his entry into a new platform may also increase the visibility of the NDC within the constituency, especially as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually begin.
When contacted, aides within his camp declined to confirm the development but suggested that a public statement would be made soon.
“The public will hear from him directly,” one aide said.
For now, attention remains on the timing of that announcement and what it could mean for the unfolding political contest in Idemili North and South.
