Abuja: Wike Announces 9-Day ‘FCT Week’ for Project Commissioning
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved a special 9-day event, dubbed “FCT Week,” dedicated to the commissioning of completed projects within the FCT.
Wike shared this development on Friday during his final inspection of several key projects slated for inauguration. He confirmed that FCT Week will commence on May 27, starting with the inauguration of the Abuja Rail Mass Transit for commercial operation.
Additional projects to be inaugurated by President Tinubu during the event include the official residence of the Vice President, the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from the Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1 featuring four interchanges, as well as the B6 and B12 Circle Road.
Expressing his satisfaction with the progress and completion of these projects, Wike commended the contractors for adhering to the project timelines. He assured that the FCT Administration has fulfilled its financial commitments, ensuring that all projects are ready for commissioning.
“With the President’s approval, we anticipate starting the inauguration of various projects from May 27,” Wike stated. “Specifically, we expect the President to launch the commercial operation of the Abuja Metro line on the first day. We will conduct a final inspection on Monday, but from what we’ve observed, we are prepared to proceed.”
