Abuja: 23 Residents Kidnapped in Dei-Dei Assault
In a harrowing incident on Saturday night, unidentified gunmen seized twenty-three residents from Dei-Dei community, situated in the Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The victims, reportedly taken from their apartments within a single compound inhabited by tenants, fell prey to the assailants between 8 and 9 pm that fateful day, as per information gathered by Daily Trust.
Mai Unguwar Dei-Dei, Ibrahim Galadima, confirmed the incident, revealing that seven of the abducted individuals were later rescued by local security vigilantes who tracked the kidnappers into the nearby bush approximately an hour after the initial abduction.
Galadima explained, “It’s like the kidnappers, who had left the area with their victims in three batches, noticed our presence on their way into the bush and decided to release the victims.” He characterized the affected compound as a recently leased facility, with tenants occupying it for less than six months.
As of press time, the FCT Police command spokesperson could not be reached for comment on the ongoing investigation into this disturbing event. Authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of the remaining victims and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
