Abia: 21 Pregnant Girls Rescued As Soldiers Raid Baby Factory
The operatives of 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Ohafia, Abia State have raided a baby factory at Umunkpeyi-Nvosi in Isialangwa South LGA, rescuing 24 young girls.
21 out of the 24 girls are said to be pregnant while the person allegedly running the illegal facility, identified as Lilian Ochumba was nowhere to be found.
Security agents are accusing Ochumba of selling the babies to unknown buyers, within and outside Abia State.
Some of the rescued girls claimed they have been there for several months and were told to give out their babies for adoption.
The Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma assures the public that the State government will not allow such incidents to continue.
The victims have been transfered to a private health facility in Umuahia, the State capital for proper documentations and medications.
