74-Year-Old Woman Stabbed to Death by Boyfriend During Heated Argument

A 74-year-old woman was tragically stabbed to death, allegedly by her boyfriend, following a heated argument at a housing complex in Cornubia City, KwaZulu-Natal. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 3, 2024, and was reported to authorities shortly after 5 pm by a concerned resident.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the woman’s body was discovered during a wellness check prompted by concerned neighbors. Upon arrival, RUSA and members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) found the victim on a bed, topless, with multiple stab wounds to her face and head. A blood-stained t-shirt was also found near the scene.

RUSA stated that neighbors had overheard the couple arguing prior to the incident and, fearing for the woman’s safety, decided to check on her. When they approached the residence, the deceased’s boyfriend allegedly exhibited suspicious behavior, raising further concern.

A neighbor who entered the home discovered the woman’s lifeless body covered with a bed sheet. It is believed that the suspect fled the scene after the discovery, having allegedly showered and changed his clothes, as blood was found in the bathroom.

According to neighbors, the suspect had a history of violent behavior and had previously assaulted the woman, often when she refused to buy alcohol for him. The police are currently investigating the incident, and the suspect remains at large.
