Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with the Killing of State Assembly Member’s Daughter

The Borno State Police Command has officially announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with the tragic murder of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Fatima Alhaji Bukar. The victim, who was the wife of the primary suspect, 31-year-old Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, met her untimely demise in the Gidan Dembe area of Maiduguri, the state capital.

The incident, which had shocked the local community, occurred on the evening of last Tuesday. Initial reports indicated that the husband, Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, had left their residence to attend evening prayers at a nearby mosque when the tragedy unfolded.

Following the discovery of the deceased’s body, Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, a UBA staff, accompanied by another individual identified as Bukar Wadiya, 39 years of age, sought emergency assistance from the Gwange Division of the police department. They arrived with a Honda vehicle bearing registration number MAG 230 AP and chassis number ANR742256679821, with the lifeless body of the victim.

Preliminary investigations have unveiled that the couple had been embroiled in domestic disputes, reportedly stemming from allegations of an extramarital affair by the husband. The tragic incident took place at their residence in Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe Area.

Law enforcement authorities conducted a search of the crime scene, revealing several key pieces of evidence. These included a short pestle, a blood-stained rug, a rope, a knife, a Honda vehicle, chassis number ANR742256679821, and license plate MAG230AP, as well as a pillow with mucus stains. Notably, there was no sign of forced entry into the house, and only the husband possessed the key to access the residence from the outside.

Both Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim and Bukar Wadiya have been apprehended as prime suspects in the ongoing investigation. The Police Public Relations Officer, Sani Shatambaya, issued a statement on the matter, stating that “discreet investigation is ongoing for diligent prosecution.”
