50 Political Thugs Repent, Surrender to Gombe State Police in Landmark Event
50 political thugs, commonly known as Kalare Boys, have renounced their involvement in criminal activities and voluntarily surrendered to the Gombe State Police Command. This commendable initiative comes as part of the police force’s ongoing efforts, led by Commissioner Hayatu Usman, to curb thuggery and enhance safety and security in the state.
The repentant Kalare Boys, accompanied by a delegation from the State Government, expressed their commitment to turning a new leaf during a historic event held at the Police Command Headquarters in Gombe. The State Government, represented by Commissioners for Internal Security, Youths and Sports, and Agriculture, commended the Police Command for its effective tracking of criminal activities in the state.
Commissioner Hayatu Usman, who initiated proactive measures to combat thuggery, welcomed the repentant youths and thanked them for their decision to abandon a life of crime. He urged them to influence their peers who are yet to renounce thuggery to follow suit. The CP also emphasized the importance of grassroots policing through community partnerships, a key component of his action plan.
During the event, the repentant thugs handed over offensive weapons, including knives and machetes, symbolizing their commitment to ending criminal activities. The CP urged the Commissioners for Youths and Internal Security to convey the request for rehabilitation to the state government, advocating for self-reliance through skill acquisition programs.
In response, the Commissioners for Internal Security, Youths and Sports, and Agriculture pledged to bring the matter before the Gombe State government. They expressed gratitude to CP Hayatu Usman for his laudable initiatives and assured that the repentant Kalare Boys would be closely monitored to prevent any relapse into their former lifestyles.
This groundbreaking event marks a positive stride in the ongoing engagement with various stakeholders, reflecting the commitment of the Gombe State Police Command to fostering a safer and more secure environment. The repentance and surrender of these 50 Kalare Boys serve as a testament to the effectiveness of community-oriented policing in the region.
