300-Level Student at Ondo University, AAUA, Shot Dead Inside Hostel

Emmanuel, a 300-level Linguistics student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, was shot dead in his off-campus hostel. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though there are speculations about cult-related activities, which have not been confirmed.

 

The vice chairman of the National Association of Universities Students (NAUS), Comrade Oladele Emmanuel, confirmed the student’s death in a statement released on Monday. He expressed profound sorrow over the loss and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

 

“The circumstances surrounding this tragedy remain unclear, leaving us all with questions and a deep sense of loss,” Comrade Emmanuel stated. “In times like these, our collective safety and well-being must be our paramount concern.”

 

Comrade Emmanuel urged the AAUA management, the state government, and security operatives to conduct a comprehensive investigation. “It is imperative that justice prevails swiftly, and the perpetrators of this heinous act are held accountable,” he added.

 

He emphasized the need for reassurance within the university community that such a tragic event will be met with the full force of the law, highlighting the irreplaceable potential and contributions of the slain student to the academic environment.

 

The NAUS vice chairman extended his deepest condolences to Emmanuel’s family, expressing the collective grief of the AAUA community. “We mourn his untimely departure and extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. We must come together to ensure that our university remains a safe and nurturing environment for everyone.”

 

He also stressed the importance of increased security measures, including more frequent patrols, better lighting, and more accessible emergency services, as critical steps towards ensuring the safety of all students.
