Police Arrest Another Suspected Killer of Gen. Udokwere

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the arrest of Hashiru Baku, alleged mastermind behind the murder of retired Brigadier General Harold Udokwere. Baku was apprehended in Kano State while attempting to flee the country.

Brigadier General Udokwere was tragically murdered during an armed robbery at his residence on June 22, 2024. The assailants also stole his gun during the attack.

Earlier, on June 24, 2024, the police had arrested and paraded suspects Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu in connection with the crime.

Addressing journalists on Monday, FCT Commissioner of Police Bennett Igweh revealed that Baku was an escapee from the Kuje Correctional Centre. He highlighted that Baku not only orchestrated the killing and robbery but continued his criminal activities even after his escape.

“I previously presented the four suspects involved in the killing of Brigadier-General Udokwere. Today, I present to you the organiser of the crime,” Igweh stated.

The police have successfully recovered several stolen items, including the General’s gun, his wristwatch, and his wife’s jewelry. Additionally, drugs were found at Baku’s residence, which Igweh suggested were used by the suspect and his accomplices to remain emboldened in their criminal activities.
