3 Terrorists, 1 Soldier Killed in Kaduna Gunfight

In a recent encounter in the Udowa General Area of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Nigerian Army troops engaged in “operation clear terrorists” have successfully neutralized three terrorists. This operation is part of a broader effort by the military to eliminate terrorist threats throughout the nation.

According to Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesman for the Nigerian Army, troops from the 2 Battalion acted on actionable intelligence and staged an ambush against marauding terrorists. Following a fierce gunfight, three of the terrorists were neutralized. Unfortunately, one soldier also paid the ultimate sacrifice during the encounter.

During the operation, troops managed to recover significant items from the fleeing insurgents, including a bandolier containing 111 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, two motorcycles, one set of high-frequency communication radio, and two mobile phones.

In another operation on the same day, troops from the 1 Brigade, while conducting a stop-and-search operation, intercepted a suspected ammunition courier in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was on a mission to deliver ammunition to a bandit leader named Gishiri. The vigilant troops recovered a bag containing 224 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one mobile phone, and ₦4,000 from the courier, who is currently in custody and undergoing further investigations.

Additionally, during a separate operation in the North East theatre, a notorious Boko Haram terrorist commander, Bulama Bukar, surrendered to troops from the 5 Brigade in Gubio. He was identified as the commander of the Boko Haram Camp Tapkin Chad at Gilima village in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State. Items recovered from the surrendered terrorist include one AK-47 rifle, five magazines, 44 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one magazine carrier jacket, one knife, one motorcycle, and ₦23,500. The suspect is currently undergoing profiling sessions.

The Nigerian Army continues its efforts to eliminate terrorist threats across the country, with these recent operations showcasing their commitment to this mission.
