2027: Tinubu’s Re-election Is Our Only Project in Kogi State – Senator Karimi Declares
Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has declared that the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 is the primary political focus of Kogi State. Speaking in Lokoja on Thursday, Karimi said the state has no alternative path, stressing, “There are no two ways about it.”
The senator highlighted major gains Kogi State has recorded under the Tinubu administration, citing both infrastructure development and human capital investment. He pointed to the federal government’s ongoing rehabilitation of key road networks across the state, asserting that the projects are receiving attention in line with available national resources.
Karimi also noted the progress of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, a 614-kilometre project initially launched during the Buhari administration. According to him, the project has reached 75% completion under President Tinubu and is poised to deliver major economic benefits, especially for Kogi.
He said longstanding demands for new federal universities to expand higher education access are now being prioritised by the current administration. The senator also praised Tinubu’s inclusion of Kogi indigenes in federal appointments, allowing them to contribute meaningfully at the national level.
Recalling past setbacks caused by inconsistent federal policies, Karimi mentioned previously abandoned projects like the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene, Okene–Auchi-Benin dual carriageways, and the Kabba–Isanlu-Egbe-Ilorin road. He commended President Tinubu for restarting work on these critical infrastructures, which he believes will significantly impact lives in Kogi and beyond.
Karimi made it clear that the people of Kogi State are united in their support for Tinubu’s leadership and are not open to any political alternatives. “We have no Plan B — despite such suggestions being floated in some quarters. We will stand firmly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR — the leader we know and trust. There will be no wavering, no second-guessing in this commitment. To the doubters: it’s time to smell the coffee,” he stated.
