2027: APC Will Win All Seats in Abia, Says Orji Uzor Kalu
The senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined to win every elective position in Abia State in the 2027 general elections.
Kalu made the statement on Friday while addressing APC members and his political support groups in his hometown of Igbere. He said the party is united and prepared to take control of the Abia State Government House in Umuahia as well as other political offices across the state.
The former Abia governor expressed support for the recently concluded APC State Congress in Abia, describing the exercise as a step that would strengthen the party ahead of the next election cycle. He urged party members to remain committed and work together to secure victory for the APC in 2027.
Kalu also warned party members against internal sabotage, saying the party must avoid the divisions that affected its performance in the 2023 elections.
Speaking on the conduct of elections in the state, the senator insisted that rigging or manipulation would not be tolerated in 2027. He alleged that the Abia local government election held on November 2, 2024, and won by the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), lacked credibility.
Referring to the election, Kalu claimed the results were predetermined and said such a situation would not occur in future polls.
The senator also criticised Governor Alex Otti over the continued use of his private residence in Isiala Ngwa instead of the official Government House in Umuahia. According to Kalu, the governor’s absence from the Government House has negatively affected economic activities in the state capital.
He further rejected claims that his administration achieved little while he served as governor of Abia State, describing the allegations as propaganda by the current government.
