The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, is set to float a political party ahead of 2023.
General secretary of the NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja, who revealed the plan of a new political party at the NLC youth conference in Abuja on Monday, disowned outrightly the already existing Labour Party, LP.
Political permutations have already started ahead of 2023 general elections in Nigeria and the NLC appears be warning up with plans to float a new political party.
Ugboaja said the idea is borne out of the failure of the existing political structure to address the concerns of Nigerians.
It, however, seems strange for the NLC in 2020 to be drumming for a new platform, when a few years ago, precisely in 2015, it struggled to retrieve the certificate of registration of the LP, from the Chairman, Dan Nwanyawu.
While political big wigs are yet to react to the news, a few young persons have been talking on the matter
It remains to be seen if the idea of a yet to be named political party by the NLC ahead of 2023 will affect the political alignment of key politicians and their political parties.
