16-Year-Old Boy Dies After Cobra Bite While Catching Snakes in Anambra
A 16-year-old boy from Umuowelle Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State has tragically died after being bitten by a cobra while attempting to catch it. The boy, who was the only male child in his family, had been catching snakes as a way to help support his household. He earned about N20,000 for each snake he caught, and his mother had been encouraging him, hoping it would provide a better future for the family.
Sadly, the young boy’s bravery led to his untimely death. On the day of the incident, he attempted to catch a black cobra, but the snake bit him, injecting deadly venom. Despite the quick efforts of people nearby, who rushed him and the snake to a local herbalist, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival.
After the tragic event, a vigilante group was called to dispose of the snake. The community is deeply saddened by the loss of the young boy, who had carried the weight of his family’s hopes on his shoulders. His mother is now left to grieve the loss of her only son, and the family’s future now hangs in uncertainty.
