Zazzau Emirate Mourns as Top Traditional Title Holder Dies After Collapsing at Public Event
Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, a senior member of the Zazzau Emirate Council, has passed away after collapsing at a public function in Zaria, Kaduna State. The traditional title holder, known as the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, was attending an event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, HRH Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, when he suddenly slumped. He was rushed to Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Zazzau Emirate Council confirmed the incident in a statement by its Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai. The council expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing him as a valued member and the Councillor in charge of health-related matters. His remains were buried on Thursday evening at Rimin Dodo in accordance with Islamic rites.
Emir Bamalli, in his condolence message, described Pate’s death as the will of Allah, emphasizing that death is inevitable. He praised the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau as a hardworking and religious man whose contributions to the Emirate would be greatly missed. He also extended his sympathies to Pate’s family and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
