Zamfara: Seven Feared Dead in Ruthless Bandit Assault on Police Headquarters
In a harrowing incident, seven lives are feared lost as armed bandits carried out a ruthless attack on the divisional headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Zurmi town, situated at the heart of Zurmi Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
The assailants struck on Sunday evening, leaving a grim trail of destruction that claimed the lives of seven individuals, including a brave police officer who fell victim to the brazen assault.
Babangida Zurmi, a resident deeply connected to the town, expressed his distress, revealing that communication lines with his relatives remained severed as of 9:45 pm. Fearing the lurking presence of the assailants, he urgently called upon relevant authorities for assistance.
Sources from the area suggested that the motive behind the attack may have been retaliation for the killing of two individuals by local vigilantes. The bandits, reportedly fueled by a mission of revenge, spared no mercy as they torched numerous shops and razed the divisional headquarters of the police in Zurmi.
In a separate grim turn of events, another faction of bandits operating in Maradun Local Government Area claimed four lives and abducted several others. The victims met their tragic fate as the bandits indiscriminately opened fire on individuals clearing bushes along the road.
Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson for the police in Zamfara State, confirmed the distressing events, acknowledging the Zurmi attack while assuring the public that he is actively gathering information to provide a comprehensive overview of the situation.
