Bandits: Deadly Attacks Rock Multiple States – Benue, Zamfara, Niger Bear the Brunt
In a series of devastating incidents, bandits have left a trail of death and destruction in Benue, Zamfara, and Niger states. Ten lives were claimed in Benue’s Apa Local Government Area, leading to widespread displacement, while Zamfara mourns the loss of two police officers in Zurmi town. In Niger, over 30 houses were set ablaze during an attack on the Allawa community, leaving residents in fear.
Benue State Horror: 10 Lives Lost, Villages Displaced
Apa Local Government Area in Benue State witnessed a spree of violence, with ten people losing their lives in attacks on Ibele, Ochumekwu, Ijaha, Adija, and Kano villages. Displaced residents, now seeking refuge in the local government headquarters, recount sustained attacks by armed herders over the past two weeks. Governor Hyacinth Alia accuses some state indigenes of inviting foreign herders from Niger Republic, further complicating the security situation.
Zamfara Police Officers Gunned Down, Zurmi Town in Shock
Zurmi Local Government Area in Zamfara State is reeling from the loss of two police officers as bandits attacked Nasarawa Zurmi. The violence led to injuries to three others and left civilians, including a woman, wounded. Normalcy has since returned, but the scars of over 30 shops, motorbikes, and a house being razed down remain, reflecting the terror unleashed.
Niger State Under Siege: Houses Burned, Lives Disrupted
Allawa community in Niger State faced a brutal assault, resulting in the burning of over 30 houses, scores of cattle, and essential belongings. Residents report a prolonged state of fear as terrorists maintain permanent camps in Allawa Forest. Efforts to reach government officials for comments on the situation have been unsuccessful, leaving the affected community grappling with uncertainty.
ISWAP Fighters Neutralized in Yobe State
In Yobe State, troops from the Joint Task Force (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai Sector 2 successfully engaged and neutralized three ISWAP fighters near Lawanti village. The terrorists were believed to be affiliated with the group responsible for a previous attack on troops’ camp at Kukareta.
