“You’ve Dug Your Own Pit”: Rivers Governor Fubara Warns Those Disrespecting His Authority
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has issued a stern warning to individuals disrespecting his leadership, stating they have dug their own pit and will fall into it. This declaration came during the commissioning of a new Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area, which was built and donated by former Governor Peter Odili.
While Fubara did not directly name his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the ongoing feud between them over the control of Rivers State’s political structure suggests Wike may be among those he addressed. Their conflict escalated enough to require President Bola Tinubu’s intervention and a controversial peace deal after 27 pro-Wike lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly were dismissed following their defection to the All Progressives Congress.
In his speech, Fubara also criticized some local government chairmen for their lack of participation in state activities, accusing them of disloyalty. He emphasized his commitment to advancing Rivers State, even if it means being perceived as “clueless” by critics. Fubara stated his administration would prioritize projects that benefit the people of the state, rather than political gains.
