“You Defame People with Grace” – Portable Rejects VDM’s Diss Track Involving Mercy Chinwo
Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly rejected a proposed collaboration with social media commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over a diss track aimed at gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
VDM had revealed plans to release a track titled Body of Christ in response to Chinwo’s N1.125 billion defamation lawsuit against him. The lawsuit followed VDM’s claims that the gospel artist withheld funds from her performances without remitting them to her former record label.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Portable warned VDM to stop mentioning his name and lashed out at his online behavior. “You are already overstepping your boundaries,” he said. “Stop talking about me. Do not mention my name. You defame people, celebrities, rich people, those with grace and glory. You defame people’s businesses and marriages.”
The singer questioned VDM’s financial capacity to afford a feature, sarcastically asking, “You said that we should sing. Do you have N100 million in your account to feature me?”
