R. Kelly Sings on Prison Podcast, Claims He’s Written 25 Albums Behind Bars

R. Kelly, currently serving a 30-year prison sentence, recently made a rare public appearance on the “Inmate Tea with A&P” podcast, where he sang snippets of two of his well-known songs. The disgraced R&B singer performed parts of his 1998 track *When a Woman’s Fed Up* and his 2003 hit *Step in the Name of Love*, showcasing his signature vocal style despite his incarceration.

During the interview, Kelly expressed his enduring passion for music, describing singing as a “beautiful disease that’s uncurable” and stating that he is “always singing.” He also claimed to have written 25 albums since being imprisoned.

Although he remains in a federal prison in North Carolina, Kelly said he is “working on getting out” and is “using patience as a tactic” to regain his freedom. In addition to his federal racketeering and sex trafficking conviction, he was sentenced to 20 years in Chicago for related crimes. However, a judge ruled that only one additional year would be added to his existing 30-year sentence, with the rest served concurrently.

His legal troubles continue, as a federal appeals court upheld his racketeering convictions and sentence in February, ensuring he will remain behind bars. Despite this, Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, remains optimistic. Speaking to TMZ, she said, “I just visited with him yesterday, and he was in good spirits. He is not a broken man, and no one should count him out. Our appeals process has not come to an end. We will continue to fight for justice and for his freedom.”
