“Before You Get Your Woman Pregnant the Second Time, Buy a Car” – Nigerian Journalist Advises Men
Nigerian broadcast journalist and former civil engineer, Adedayo Oderinu, has advised married men to prioritize buying a car before having a second child.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Oderinu expressed concern over the struggles many women face while commuting with their children, particularly in Nigeria’s harsh weather conditions. He highlighted the common sight of pregnant women navigating public transportation with young children and urged men to take a more empathetic approach.
Addressing men directly, he acknowledged that having a first child is often seen as a way of proving fertility. However, he emphasized that before planning for a second child, men should consider the practicalities of family mobility. He stressed that purchasing a car should be for the family’s convenience, not as a status symbol.
Oderinu’s post resonated with many, as he called on men to show more consideration for their partners and ease the burden of transportation for their growing families.
