If you don’t want war in Nigeria, vote Tinubu — Portable warns Nigerians
Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has sparked reactions after urging Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, warning that failure to do so could lead to unrest.
In a video broadcast shared online, the singer made strong statements linking political support to national stability. He insisted that backing the current administration was necessary to maintain peace in the country.
“We need peace, we want peace,” he said in the video. “If you don’t want war in Nigeria, you better vote for Tinubu.”
Portable also issued warnings directed at individuals who might oppose the president’s re-election bid, invoking spiritual references in his remarks.
“Thunder and Ogun will strike any Yoruba man who doesn’t,” he added, referencing traditional beliefs while addressing members of the Yoruba ethnic group.
The singer further claimed involvement with the ruling All Progressives Congress, stating that he has been engaged to support its campaign efforts ahead of the next election cycle.
“I have been signed, given APC clothes,” he said. “Don’t worry, I will soon start sharing rice and vegetable oil.”
His comments have continued to generate discussion across social media platforms, where users are weighing in on the growing role of entertainers in political messaging and public persuasion ahead of elections.
