You Can’t Work for Asue Ighodalo and Expect to Eat with Us Now,” Oshiomhole Mocks PDP Would-Be Defectors

In a sharp rebuke to political figures considering defection, Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has issued a warning to those planning to switch allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that the era of playing both sides is over.

Speaking in a viral video while addressing a group of individuals, Oshiomhole urged politicians aligned with the PDP and its gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, to remain with their party. According to him “You can’t be with Asue Ighodalo and expect to eat with us”. He dismissed the notion of switching camps for personal gain, calling for loyalty and integrity within party lines.

“You can’t be with Asue Ighodalo and expect to benefit here,” Oshiomhole stated. “The days of playing both sides are over. You bolt, and after the election, you want to jump camp? No, stay with him because we don’t want people that sit on the fence.”

The senator’s comments come in the wake of the Edo State governorship election, in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared APC’s candidate, Monday Okpebholo, the winner. According to INEC, Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, while PDP’s Ighodalo garnered 247,274 votes, and the Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata finished third with 22,763 votes.
