Mrs. Toluige Olokoobi Babalola, the woman who gained worldwide attention for her appearance in the viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video with her son Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, has reportedly taken her own life. The news has sent shockwaves through the online community and beyond.
The ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video, which became an internet sensation in 2020, featured a 4-year-old Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola pleading with his mother, Mrs. Babalola, to “calm down and rest a little” after he had offended her. The heartwarming video resonated with people across the globe and even caught the attention of Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
As a result of his viral fame, Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola was signed as a brand ambassador by Abuja-based real estate company, T Pumpy Concept Limited.
However, the tragic news of Mrs. Toluige Babalola’s suicide has left many in shock. The information was brought to light on the micro-blogging platform, X (formerly Twitter), by a user identified as Samuel.
According to Samuel’s post, Mrs. Babalola had been silently battling personal problems but did not confide in anyone about her struggles. He stated, “The woman in the viral ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video has just committed suicide here in Benin. She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left behind three kids for her husband, including the popular ‘Mummy Calm Down’ boy.”
This tragic turn of events serves as a somber reminder of the importance of reaching out for help and support during difficult times. The ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video brought laughter and smiles to countless people, but it also highlights the need for open conversations about mental health and well-being.
