Living Faith Church Pastor Brutally Assaulted Over False Genital Theft Allegation in Benue

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Benue State, a pastor of the Living Faith Church, Dr. Aime, and a lecturer at the Akawe Torkula Polytechnic Makurdi, became the victim of a brutal mob attack triggered by a bizarre accusation of genital theft.

The incident occurred during a gospel outreach event led by Pastor Aime on a Wednesday in the Wurukum area of Makurdi. Trouble erupted when the pastor laid his hands on a young man to offer a prayer. The young man, suddenly gripped by panic, raised an alarm, alleging that his genitals had vanished.

What followed was an eruption of anger from a group of Okada riders who assembled at the scene. They quickly surrounded the pastor, subjecting him to a vicious beating, and came perilously close to lynching him before the intervention of military and police personnel.

Both Pastor Aime and the accuser, the victim of the alleged genital theft, were subsequently taken to the E Divisional Police in Makurdi. It was at the police station where a thorough examination confirmed that the genital in question was, in fact, intact, debunking the wild allegation.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of E Divisional Police in Makurdi announced his intention to prosecute individuals who spread false alarms related to genital theft in the state, signaling a zero-tolerance stance on such incidents.

In the aftermath of the incident, the relatives of the young man who initiated the false alarm have been fervently pleading with the police to spare him from prosecution.

Efforts to contact Benue State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, for comments on the situation were unsuccessful at the time of this report.

This incident has left many shocked and underscores the need for caution and critical thinking in such emotionally charged situations. It also highlights the dangers of rumor-mongering and the potential for mob violence when false accusations take root.
