Woman Dies After Setting Herself Ablaze in Family Home
A middle-aged woman has reportedly died after setting herself ablaze in Bauchi State. The incident, confirmed by the Bauchi State Police Command, occurred at a family residence shortly after the woman arrived at the premises with a gallon of petrol. Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, said the woman had asked to see one Yelwa Abubakar Balewa but was informed that the person was not available. Witnesses said she then poured petrol on herself and lit a match, engulfing her body in flames.
Onlookers rushed her to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she later died from the severe burns. According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the woman may have been mentally unstable. The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
