Woman Collapses, Dies While Awaiting Daughter at UTME Centre in Ondo
A tragic incident occurred on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Ilara-Mokin Junction in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a woman identified as Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo collapsed and died while waiting for her child to complete the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to accounts from the scene, the woman had accompanied her child to the examination centre earlier in the day. Shortly after arriving, she reportedly began to feel unwell and complained of weakness before suddenly collapsing.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident attempted to assist her, but she was confirmed dead at the location.
The child was said to have been inside the examination hall at the time and was unaware of the development.
A resident who identified the deceased as “Mummy Ayo” said she had spoken earlier in the day about taking her daughter to the examination venue.
The incident drew attention from people in the area, many of whom gathered at the scene following the sudden collapse.
The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, describing it as a sudden death case. He stated that the family of the deceased had been contacted, and after verification, the remains were released to Mr. Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as her son and a member of the Nigeria Legion in Akure.
