Gunmen Abduct Popular Transporter, Kill Son, Shoot Wife
In a harrowing attack on Wednesday night, armed bandits abducted a well-known transporter, Muihili Adebayo, from his residence in the Shagari area of Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State. The assailants, who stormed the home, killed Adebayo’s son during the assault and shot his wife, who is now in critical condition.
Adebayo, known for operating the Akure-Lagos route, was reportedly ambushed and taken away by the attackers. According to a neighbour who spoke to *Daily Trust*, Adebayo’s wife was shot while attempting to resist the kidnappers. “She is currently recovering in a private hospital, but the boy died on the spot. The mother sustained a bullet wound to her hand but managed to escape,” the source said.
The injured woman was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, where she remains in a coma. A family member, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N20 million for Adebayo’s release. The family has since appealed to the government and members of the public for support in securing his freedom.
At the time of filing this report, attempts to reach the state police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, for an official comment were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.
